Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Hunter Semillon
Tyrrell's Vat 1 Semillon is one of Australia's great white wines and has the capacity to age superbly in the bottle. This release continues the recent immaculate line up of Vat 1s that show classic citrus floral and honey aromas. The palate is dry, yet full-flavoured with lovely crisp acidity. Still only a relative baby in terms of Vat 1s longevity, this bottle will reward you for decades to come.
Tyrrell’s Vat 47 Hunter Chardonnay
What a magnificent wine! A pioneer in the modern Australian Chardonnay stakes, the Vat 47 from the Hunter Valley has a silky bouquet of melon stone fruit and creamy oak that is followed by a palate of extraordinary balance and length. An absolute classic and will only get better with some medium term ageing.
Tyrrell’s Vat 8 Hunter Shiraz Cabernet
A modern style of Australian red that also respects the tradition of using varietal blending to make a more rounded wine. The wine shows intense plum fruit sweetness from the Shiraz with dark berry and chocolate characters. The Cabernet component adds to the length and fullness of the wine.
Tyrrell’s Vat 9 Hunter Shiraz
Always a regional benchmark of the medium bodied, long-lived style, Vat 9 in 2011 shows the extra fruit intensity of the good season. It's sourced from old vines (average age 50 years) grown in the red volcanic soils of the Weinkeller and Short Flat vineyards on Tyrrell's Ashmans property.
Made from hand-picked fruit, fermented in open vats and matured in large format French-oak casks (2700-litre), the wine reveals the delicious flavour of outstanding fruit, gently handled. Maturation in oak, apart from polishing the silky tannins, gave a liveliness and aromatic lift that completes a harmonious, gentle, sensuous wine. Put simply a Hunter classic!
